Taurus Season Meaning
What does Taurus season mean for us? The sun is in the zodiac sign of Taurus from April 20 to May 20 (depending on the year.) Taurus is a fixed sign, therefore the Taurus season will have the quality of fixed earth. With the fixed signs we are mid-season. So spring is starting to settle into its seasonal groove by now.
Fixed signs generally are set in their ways and somewhat resistant to change, but they are loyal and dependable. You can see where these Taurus traits come from when you also observe that the weather is now starting to warm and stabilize as we move into May. The blossoms and bluebells are out. We can start thinking about turning the central heating off! (Depending on how north you are.)

Fixed Earth is also the most fixed of all the fixed seasons as Earth is the densest element. During Taurus season we have endurance and stamina. These qualities help us to follow through with Aries season initiations. Here comes the hard work! Once we have done the heavy graft we must take time to rest and survey what we have accomplished.

Daisies, Lily of The Valley, Peonies, Tulips, Foxglove, Roses and Gerbera are the flowers associated with Taurus and May. Many of these flowers have incredible fragrance. The May Full Moon is known as the ‘Flower moon’ due to the abundance of flowers at this time. Other names for the May full moon are the Budding Moon, Frog Moon, Planting Moon and Moon of Shedding Ponies.
Venus rules Taurus which is super-sensual and indulgent in this sign. If we look at the house associated with Taurus there are clues about how we can best use the energy of this time. The 2nd house rules possessions and that which we value. As babies, we start to explore the material world and stick as much of the environment around us into our mouths. That way we develop immunity. This is a time we come out of our winter cocoons and become more sociable again.

The major festival for the Taurus season is the fire festival of Beltane which takes place on May 1. Animals associated with Beltane are the Cow (naturally!) the goat, the bee and the rabbit. All are powerful fertility symbols.
One of the goddesses associated with Beltane is the Welsh Goddess Rhiannon due to her missing son being found by the horselord Teyrnon. This lord owned a fine mare who would give birth to a foal every May eve, but like Rhiannon’s son, this foal would go missing each year. Teyrnon finds Rhiannon’s missing son who has stunning golden hair like his parents. This son also has a great affinity with horses. Rhiannon is a fertility goddess and also associated with the May pole. Other goddesses associated with this time are Flora the goddess of spring, sensual Aphrodite, hunting goddess Artemis and the god Bel.
The 2nd house associated with Taurus is opposite the 8th house of death and the underworld. We can see the polarity of the brave St George in the 2nd house while the dragon resides in the 8th. The fixed star Aldebaran resides in the eye of Taurus the bull. This important royal star carries much of the same symbolism of St George. With Aldebaran however, the Saint is Michael.
